established in March 2005.

Celebrated Affairs was established in 1993 and is the
largest independent wedding show organiser in the
South-East.

Pink wedding shows was created with the intention of organising gay wedding shows for couples.

PINK WEDDINGS
However, it soon became obvious that couples were attending local shows and could find suppliers at these events. As there was no demand for us to develop gay wedding shows, we concentrated on improving the wedding shows at Celebrated Affairs. 

There were companies jumping on the bandwagon, suddenly everyone had years of
experience, talk of wedding companies desperatly chasing the "Pink Pound".  There were columns of editorial in the national press about how the industry would explode, and whilst this would have been wonderful, the reality was very different.   

PINK WEDDINGS
We all like a positive attitude but there was so much hype based on so little foundation.  Established wedding companies weren't chasing the pink pound and generally they preferred to work with wedding couples directly rather than co-ordinators/planners ( a flashy website but no experience doesn't impress ) - nothing had changed. 

It was also quite apparent that you didn't need to be gay to provide gay couples with professional services, although some companies seemed to base their whole business around this fact. 

We had to be honest, there was nothing wrong in admitting that we could not develop gay wedding shows, this was unchartered territory and we had evaluated the marketplace.  We concluded that the best option for gay couples was to attend established local wedding shows. 

As for this website, we caused quite a stir.   We had several interesting conversations where we were spoken to most unprofessionally by one company, quite unlike anything we've experienced in 15 years.  However, it only endorsed our belief that our conclusions had been correct.  

And we have bee correct - We are delighted that gay couples have been attending our events and we are commited in bringing you the best local suppliers.  These are quality suppliers who's services/products are open to everyone.
 
As we had developed this website, including free supplier listings,  and it was already proving a successful means of making contact with  gay-friendly services, we decided to keep the site active - we are delighted with the attendance at our wedding shows.

As established wedding show organisers we have seen over 28,000 couples attend our wedding shows over the past 15 years.  We  welcome everyone to our wedding shows and you'll find  up to 80 exhibitors at these events.
